Getting an energy audit is the first step toward making your home energy efficient -- and for most people, they're completely free. To start, apply online or by mail. Once they receive your application, NYSERDA will contact you to schedule an audit with your preferred contractor. You will also receive access to an online portal where you can track the status of your assessment, as well as any improvements you may choose to undertake.
Note: Free or reduced-cost comprehensive home energy assessments are available for owners of one- to four-family residential buildings. Condo, co-op, not-for-profit, or mobile home owners must call 855-838-7818 to see if they are eligible.
